A Biographical Profile of William M. Eck, CWC William M. Eck, CWC has a unique background in philanthropic fundraising and estate/legacy counseling, having mentored some of the most prominent families in the Rocky Mountain West. A past Director of Wealth Management for the Rocky Mountain Adventist Healthcare Foundation, his extensive background in philanthropic leadership allowed him to be a contributing author to a book entitled Beating the Midas Curse, a work focused on Mr. Eck’s passion for assisting families in preparing heirs, so the heirs control the inheritance, instead of the inheritance controlling them. Having served for many years on the Board of Directors of the Colorado Planned
Giving Roundtable, Mr. Eck has also been on the board of the Colorado Business in
Ethic Alliance and prominent member of Rotary International. A member of the
National Eagle Scout Association, Mr. Eck, for more than a decade, the Director of Named Rotarian of the Year in 2005 by Rotary District 5450, Mr. Eck has served as District Foundation Chair, Annual Giving Chair and on the Permanent Fund Committee of The Rotary Foundation, which, under his leadership raised over $5.3 million over a six year period. A veteran family advisor, Mr. Eck has long been intimately familiar with the complexity of large estates and multi-generational planning. True North Connections, LLC, his professional firm, works as pre-inheritance mentors assisting families who are concerned about leaving an inheritance whether it is $100,000 or $100 Million. Utilizing The Heritage Process™ as a foundation, families work together and get on the same page before an inheritance event occurs. Its purpose is to guide the family’s focus towards culture and values, rather than what they are going to get. “We don’t manage money, sell insurance, draft documents or provide therapy,” Eck assures. “Instead, we bring life values and legacy awareness back to the table…strengthening heirs through intentional, pre-inheritance experiences.” While the stakes & emotions are low, heirs engage in on-going experiences allowing them to live their heritage now in an environment of shared learning, accountability and buy-in to family principals and leadership development. This nurtures a foundation of trust and safety, stronger communication skills & preparedness for the responsibility & dynamics they will face when mom and dad are gone. Mr. Eck lives in Wheat Ridge, Colorado, with his wife and three children. He enjoys family time, cross country skiing, hiking, cycling, backpacking and reading. |
