Scott Easter
Scott Easter attended Regis University (1977 – 1981) where he received a B.S. degree in Engineering Management. His first post graduation experience was with Stone & Webster Engineering (1981 – 1983), which specialized in design, and construction management of power plants. Scott was a project engineer managing field operations for the River Bend Nuclear Power Plant. After two years with Stone and Webster he joined Easter-Owens Electric the family manufacturing business started by his father in 1955. The business designed and manufactured custom controls. He worked in many positions including Engineering and Production management. Scott owned 50% of the stock in Easter-Owens and his partner owned the remaining.
During his tenure at the company (1984 – 2006) Scott gravitated towards the financial piece of the business working to understand how the various departments in the company affected the numbers. His goal was to build a profitable business with the intent to sell. This never came to fruition and after 22 years of ownership Scott left Easter-Owens Electric. Hindsight is always crystal clear, and with first hand experience of what not to do, his time at Easter-Owens taught him a valuable lesson. That lesson is in the importance of proper planning and documentation in regards to business succession, ownership, and exit planning. After exiting the company Scott felt compelled to take these experiences to business owners, educate them on the importance of a well written clearly defined exit plan, outlining the owner’s objectives and goals. Including a Buy and Sell Agreement, documented systems of process, and methods to motivate management teams.
Scott holds licenses in variable products (Series 7 & 66) along with life, accident, and health to put into place the necessary funding vehicles to support Buy-Sell agreements, retain key personnel, and establish non equity incentive plans.
