"Indispensable Advisors: What do they look like and how can they accomplish for you what no one else can?" |
DAVID COHN David Cohn has a lifetime of experience in collaborating with families and their advisors in the process of succession and transition planning for closely-held and family businesses. David personally experienced the complexities of the succession process in his family business, having worked in the business from the age of 12. Upon graduation from the Louisiana State University School of Business, David joined his father and spent the next 25 years growing the company into one of the nation's leading attire and formal rental companies. The transition of David Cohn from son to the owner was successful. However, it was not without some of the natural conflicts that arise in the sale or succession of family businesses. Upon selling the company to another entity in 1993, David decided that there had to be a better way to go through the process than that which he and his family, as well as others, had experienced. David Cohn & Associates has evolved over the past decade to being a resource for families, associations, and other business advisors in the succession planning process and integration of client's financial, human and business goals. David acts as a catalyst to bring family members, advisors and often, key employees together to reach consensus and achieve the desired results. David has a long history of community service. He has served on numerous Boards of Directors and served many organizations in various capacities, including The Baton Rouge Chamber of Commerce, The United Way, Boy Scouts of America, Rotary International, Sewall Child Development Center, Artreach, and Family Debt Counselors. David and Karen, his wife of over 30 years, have three sons, Brian, Drew and James, now married to Anna. Karen and David reside in Parker, CO. |
